The curtain has dropped for the iconic attraction Wild West Adventure in Themepark & Resort Slagharen. For 22 years, visitors could take boatrides past scenes in an indoor westernworld, counting 2.228.00 rides. Now the famous darkride is closed for a major makeover. The attraction will return in 2023 with a new story and new scenery. The ride system and distinctive dome remain.
A dark ride is an indoor attraction where visitors are transported through thematic scenes. “Wild West Adventure grew into a much-loved classic over the past decades,” Says CEO Dave Storm. “We are delighted to be able to give the attraction a second life with this investment so that future generations can continue to enjoy it.” The renovation also involves a new name, which will be announced later.
For the transformation, Slagharen is working with Amsterdam-based Leisure Expert Group, which specializes in developing themed experiences. Storm: “our audience will expect more than twenty years ago. Together with this reputable partner, we will ensure that the attraction meets current standards, without losing sight of Slagharen's DNA.”
At a special closing ceremony on Sunday 6 November, season pass holders Bas (41) and Vanessa (41) experienced the very last ride at Wild West Adventure with their two sons Stan (9) and Ivan (4), under the watchful eye of fans and journalists. Slagharen is still open every Saturday and Sunday in November and December, plus the entire Christmas holidays from Saturday 24 December to Sunday 8 January.
